Ars Gladii is a martial arts school teaching the knightly fightings arts of medieval Germany. What the heck is that, you ask? In a nutshell, we study the surviving manuscripts from the 14th and 15th centuries, the majority of which follow the teaching legacy of Johannes Liechtenauer, a fencing master from the later half of the 1300s. This legacy played a major part of the martial tradition of the German territories up through the 1600s.

We teach the use of the entire arsenal of the medieval knight – the sword, dagger, wrestling, spear, and poleaxe, both in and out of armor. If you have an interest in history, martial arts, or just think swords are cool we invite you to join us!
